I have a Compaq Evo N600c with W2K and I am having problems getting the modem to work. When I undock the laptop to take home and try to dial out I get an error 692. I have tried replacing the modem, and system board and still nothing. Compaq advised to install the newest rompaq's which i did but still no luck. The only way I can get the modem to work is to delete the modem and then reboot to install it. Can anyone help please. I might try removing the OS and do a fresh install. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to back the data on the laptop. One of my friends recommends ghost another Backup wizard that comes with W2K. Does anyone know how to use either?
