Modem Disconnects Randomly 1

My modem keeps resetting and I can't figure out why. The problem isn't the modem itself because I just got it yesterday and the one before it was acting up just like this one. Here's my system log:

You all might be tired of these tests/reports by now. :)

I turned off the computer and that was previously near the modem, and re-ran the tests. I got a similar spread pattern but overall lower margin values.

Now it's time to fess up with something else that might be contributing to the noise (to see if you all agree this might be the cause:

There are 110VAC power outlets along a baseboard. Very near (within 6-12") from two AC/recreptcles, one on each side of the wall, are two RJ11 jacks. The wires are separated from the insulation for perhaps 3-6" to be wired to the jacks. These are likely picking up noise from AC current running through the receptacle (near the phone jacks) that that computer was plugged into.

Here are my (better) DS margin numbers after running my test repeatedly for a couple of hours with that computer turned off:

You can see from the above that I've dropped about 3db across the board from my previous test run with the computer on.

I see three things I can/should try/do now:

1) Power the computer that's causing the problem
from another AC outlet (with extension cord) to
see if my numbers remain more like the 2nd test
than the 1st.

2) Test with a homerun cable directly connected to
the NID.

3) Depending on the above test results, re-wire a new
RJ-11 jack several feet away from it's present
location (and disconnect the present one from the
terminal block in the basement).

If anyone agrees (or has other advice/tests) I'd appreciate hearing your suggestions. Hopefully I can nail the problem and get Vonage working reliably.
