I install;ed a MICS with just two lines and 4 phones. Sometimes when an incoming call is picked up the caller hears a modem tone then the call drops. I have installed a bunch of these over the years but this is a first.

Check if the the Alarm is on line one and move it to a lower line and notify the alarm company which line.
Some alarm systems are programmed to answer (with modem) the next call right after another.
To dial in they call the number, hang up and call back right away.

OK, never thought of that. Thanks.

Either someone is calling your MICS from a modem and dialling the wrong number of perhaps the MICS got a RAD that is answering the call on a particular line.

No RAD. I installed this myself. We also ran the cable to the IDF. So I am pretty sure Curly ha snailed it.

Yes, That's a good point when Alarm installers just use any dial tone that they can find. I got caught out like that and I think Curly is spot on.
