one of my regional offices plugged in a phone to a jack that, at some point in time, had a phone in there. She's getting MODEL? on the display. If my memory is correc, this means the phone is punched down to a pair, but the jack is not cross-connected to a TN. Am I correct? if not, please correct me. Also, when I do an LUVU for this same site for 2000 type TNs I get the below:

REQ: LUVU
TYPE: 2000
TN
TYPE 2000 TN 007 0 00 08 8D VCE
TYPE 2000 TN 007 0 00 16 8D VCE
TYPE 2000 TN 007 0 00 17 8D VCE
TYPE 2000 TN 007 0 00 18 8D VCE
TYPE 2000 TN 007 0 00 19 8D VCE
TYPE 2000 TN 007 0 00 20 8D VCE
TYPE 2000 TN 007 0 00 21 8D VCE
why are ports 16-21 showing? this is happing on all the cards. I am showing unused ports 0-8 but also a bunch of 16-31 ports. Why am i seeing these ports? thank you.

the phone will not react any diff if the jacks wired or not. you can hear a "pop" it your on a tn when you plug it in. if you get that far stat all your dlc's, one at a time, if a set was working there at one time it should be disabled. ld 32 stat 7...enlu 7 x.....idu 7 x.. as far as seeing ports above 15 as voice ports, what is under ctyp for tns on those cards..should be xdlc.. but you have to out all sets on a card to change it.

Could you have an 11 mini on your hands?

Models are a feature of the 11's that in essence provide the installer with template phones which can be set up via the keypad of the phone. I've never seen anyone use this but have always thought it is an interesting concept.

There are also model trunks.

For a complete description check your planning and install NTP.

Yes, but if I plug a phone into a jack and the display comes up MODEL? (this is a remote site so I can't check anything physically) what does this mean? Is there a TN already punched down to the jack but the TN is not programmed? Is the jack punched to a pair but not a TN? is the set simply disabled? thanks for your help.

The set is connected to a TN but nothing is programmed on the TN, hence the system asks if you want to use a model.

thank you! this is the answer I was looking for. so there would be no way for me to find this TN if I'm not on site, correct? I hate to have them hire a tech but I am in a different office. thanks for your help.

You could use the model feature as intended and walk one the users thru the steps (documented in your NTP's) and set the phone up. Once it is set up run a DNB and you will have the TN.

forget it. noone there will want to do this. but thank you anyway.

i take it back. someone may be willing to do this. I understand this is explained in the NTP (I have the disk) but can you tell me what part of the NTP I should be looking under? i did a search for model? and didn't get any useful info. thanks phonejack99

You don't have that many spare ports, you could just use the copy command and build phones on all ports - have the user call someone with a display and there you have your TN - out the rest

That is not a complete list of my unused ports. I was actually asking why, if I'm requesting a list of unused VOICE units (LUVU) why I'm seeing ports 16-31? this is happening on multiple cards, not just this one. I just printed an example. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

When you see free "voice" TN's between 16 and 31 you are probably on release 25.x. There is a patch for that. Ask your support for the patch.

I am on 25.40. Is this patch something i should be requesting from my maintenance vendor (is that what you mean by support?)

thanks Marc D.

Yes, the patch number is: MPLR17042

dear one234, unfortunately, my maintenance vendor is not a PBX vendor (don't ask) so i can't just tell them to download this patch. can you explain to me what problem this patch corrects? obviously i know it is going to help correct this problem with ports 16-31 showing as available but I need to be able to tell my vendor that I need patch 1234 to correct XYZ problem. thanks for your help.
