We have been trying to setup a fax server with analog lines from our G3csiV7. The fax server needs the DTMF tones of the incoming number. We don't have enough VDN's to do this, but I have seen mode code might be able to do the same thing. Problem is mode code isn't turned on. Our local Avaya partner is only interested in upgrading us to all new equipment. Anyone a suggestions on how to make this work?

hi, not shure with analog but try this :
in your Vector :

- add station next,
- Define a station type 2500 with an unused coverage path
- Add a new coverage path that pointing on a new hunt
- add a new hunt and insert the "stations" where your fax modems are define.
In your fax server, make a routing based on Dtmf or RDNIS

It should tranceive Dtmf and RDNIS and avoid you to use mode code( i think modecode are just for H323 channels)

1 wait time 2 seconde hearing silence

Thanks, but no luck with that one.

glcpark,

station type should be vmi not 2500.

dwalin,

I've tried that as well, when I try to change a station type from 2500 to VMI, I get this message: "VMI" Mode Code Interface feature not assigned

glcpark,

well, it means that you don't have this feature purchased and you can't use mode codes.

Try the partner again on getting Mode Code activated. Since it's a standard feature now, I was able to get Avaya to enable it on a V6 system and charge us for tech time only (not the original RTU cost). On the older systems, they just have to dial in under INADS permission and change an option to turn it on.

Finally, confirm that the Mode Code is already enabled under display system customer command. It could be it only needs to be turn on under the change system features command (which you can do).

HmmG3,

It is turned in "display system customer". So we will try our Avaya partner again. Thanks!
