I have a Soltek 865pe mobo which has SATA (not using); two IDE connectors for 4 drives and another 133mhz Promise Raid IDE connector for 2 more drives. I want to use the Raid connector for a fifth drive (a HD). Currently have 2 HD and 2 optical (cdrw and dvdrw) connected on standard IDE connectors. I have been in touch with Soltek but they don't speak English (at least I can't understand them :))

I would like someone to tell me how to configure the Promise controller to not use RAID. Currently it's appears to be operating normally but is configured as RAID 0+1.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

if you only connect 1 hdd to it you dont need to worry about settings, raid is only supported when 2 hdds are connected ;-)

Thanks for your help Lemon13.

If I wanted to add an additional drive to the available connector, would there be any method of using it without invoking RAID? My reason for asking would be to enable additional CD/DVD drives on the primary IDE connectors (since the Promise connector doesn't support them) by moving an HD to the RAID port.

just set it as JBOD (just a bunch of disks) in the BIOS area for RAID
