Mobile Laptop: Workgroup or Domain?

Does anyone work in a company where you may have mobile laptop users who often travel and connect to another companies lan for internet, or use their modem, but when they are in the office they connect to the office LAN?
What is a reliable setup for the laptop?

Some are WAN...and some are VPN...some interface with Novell.
How do you mean reliable setup?
What's the scale of your network?

I have same the question, after I change my IP address and workgroup to the network on another company lan, i cannot login to my laptop. And i even cannot change back the ip & workgroup to my office lan.

Somebody help me!
