Hello,
Does anyone have any idea how can I extend the ringing time on an extension that has mobility activated? Now it take about 2.5 rings before the system passes the call the twinned device. Can I modify this timer?
Thanks in advance.

It takes about 3-4 seconds for the system to detect the desktop ringing, seize a line and dial the cell phone. The rest of the delay is caused by the network finding the cell and making it ring.

There is no way to speed up either of these delays.

The only recourse is to extend the ring time at the desktop to compensate. (Before call goes to vm or elsewhere)

This is done by modifying the COS option for Call forward - No Answer Timer.

Don't make the timer so long that it doesn't engage before the caller hangs up.

When I ran into this I had customer that had a hard time believing that the issue was not with the phone system and could not understand the fact that cell phones are just radio's. If you need to prove to someone that the delay is not coming from the mitel system, Twin the device to a land line. You'll see a major difference in the time it takes to ring the twinned device.

He is living in the past century then :)
Mobile has always 1 or 2 rings delay minimum !
First you call the number, the gsm system then needs to know where the mobile phone is and pick the nearest antenna and then it needs to do a call setup

With a normal phone and you do the call setup, less steps !

Mitel recommends the call forward no answer timer be set to 24 seconds.

I didn't made myself understand. My intention is to increase the time that the desktop extension rings before the Mobile Extension passes the call to the twin extension.

Not sure if this will work or if supported by Mitel, but maybe changing the monitor extension's keysystem appearance to Delay Ring might accomplish that.

If you did not take enough time to get it right the first time...

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

Can you explain why you want to delay the twin ringing?

Another user once asked the same question but ultimately he just needed some progrqamming fixed.

People from my costumer that are using the mobility feature are complaining that the cell phone rings too soon. they would like at least 4-5 rings on the desktop phone before it gets twinned on the cell phone. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Option 1 - Don't use twinning at all and use forwarding to the Cell.

Option 2 - Train the users to turn off the twinning when they don't need it.

Option 3 - setup voicemail to allow transfer to cell at the press of a key. (Assumes Embedded mail with advanced VM enabled)

Option 4 - Use it as is as that's the way it is designed to work.

Thanks kwbMitel.
That's want I needed to hear. In conclusion this is the way that was intended to function: the cell phone to ring almost in the same time with the desktop extension.
Thanks all for the advices.
