MNS remote logon via Procomm ?

It is not done with Procomm you need to setup a network connection using dial up and then connect to the IP of the MNS.

OK - I have a dialup connection programmed and the two modems seem to be communicating - my modem and the modem connected to the MNS. Why does the dialup connection ask me for a username and password? And then the connection is trying to verify username and password? How do I connect to the IP of the MNS? Am I using Hyperterminal ?
To set up PPP service on this machine:
1. Start at the Administration menu, and select Security > PPP Server Configuration.
The system displays the Configure PPP Users page.
2. For each login that you must administer, enter the following information. For a list of required logins and passwords, see the Message Networking planning forms on the Documentation CD-ROM. For information on completing the fields, click the field names or Help on the Web-based administration page:
1. For Local IP Address, type the customer-provided IP address for the PPP access through the Message Networking system modem.
2. For the Remote IP Address, type the IP address provided by the customer or remote support for the remote device that will connect to this Message Networking system.
3. Type the password for the PPP user in the Password field.
4. Re-type the password in the Confirm Password field.

You then add a remote network dialup connection and user the ppp login and password for the modem to connect.
Then you bring up a browser and connect to the IP of the MNS system.

It is so the modem can assign the ip to the dial up connection using dhcp.

No just add something in the PPP of the MNS so it can use one for the remote. Or use a VPN to the customer network to connect

I have the PPP configured in the MNS - now -
And I have created a network dial up connection on my laptop here at the office. I seem to connect - I get a screen with my server name listed and asking me for the log in. But when I type, it's not typing on the screen. Sounds like a "terminal emulation" issue - but I don't know where to change it.

the first thing i would do is to uncheck the show terminal window under the security tab as it should login using the ppp login and password by itself. If it still will not connect have someone repower the modem at the site.

Thanks - I have been typing in my user name and password on the main window for my dial-up connection, correct? (craftppp). Is there any issue with using crftpwppp for the password? I've just exhausted all of my options and I don't know why it's not connecting. I get modem tone and my progress/status window shows that it is "verifying user name and password" - then it fails.
have you repowered the modem? are you sure the MNS sees the modem on the com port? It must be hooked to com 2 and installed in the mns software
Was the modem hooked up and programed under the server admin menu ?

If you are installing Message Networking on an S3210 or S3210R server or you are installing on an S3400-H in an international setup, which requires use of an external modem, you must complete the following steps to activate the modem.
To configure the modem:
1. Log in to the system with the craft or dadmin login and password.
2. Start at the Administration menu and select Basic System Administration > Modem and Terminal Administration > Configure Modem/Terminal.
The Configure Modem/Terminal page displays.
3. Complete the fields for the modem you are installing. See the online Help for additional information about each field.
4. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Notes:
* Alarm origination can only be set up on the COM2 port, so this port must be activated before you perform alarm management.
