System speed is diminished greatly.
The HD is running constantly.
The /usr/spool/mail/root file is huge.
All the messages state that the messages cannot be delivered.
The error message did not go through so I'm sending an error message, but it won't go through either so I'll send an error message...
Killing the /usr/mmdf/bin/deliver -b process stops the madness, but this is not a fix.
Also >/usr/spool/mail/root.lock will stop it, but this is not a fix.
What am I missing here?

It sounds like you may have a permissions error somewhere.

Try running some of the audit tools, like integrity, fixmog and authck. But run them in check mode only at first and see what pops up.

The "MOG" seems to be fixed!
Many thanks,

We are having a similar problem on SCO. I am looking for a way to clear the queue and delete all the messages out of the root inbox.

I am very new to unix and SCO and apologize if I am missing something here. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Simply removing the /usr/spool/mail/root would remove the contents of root's inbox.

You might be able to remove the messages in the queue by removing the contents of the /usr/spool/mqueue directory. Annihilannic.

Sorry, Brian, the 'mqueue' directory may not apply to your situation; it's only used by sendmail, not MMDF. Annihilannic.

Thanks Annihilannic. I was able to get the messages out of root fairly easy. I am still having a tough time finding how to clear the queue. I will keep looking and thanks again for your help.

Thanks again Annihilannic. That tmp directory was empty, but I looked around and found the sub directories under var\opt\K\SCO\MMDF\2.43.3b\spool\mmdf\lock\home to be loaded with msg files. I am trying to delete them now, but it is taking a long time due to the volume. rm msg.* will not work because there are too many files. I have to delete them in smaller goups.

Thanks again for your help.

We had the same problem a while ago with a build up of mmdf files, got an answer from here from pcunix, there was a root.lock file in /usr/spool/mail. This meant that none of the messages were being sent, just redirected to a directory to be sent later.

The answer was on
in the Whats wrong section

maybe this is your problem too.

Ken

Sorry, Just saw the end of your post, got that excited that I might be able to answer a question for once that i just jumped in with both feet.
