mmc hanging when adding\viewing properties of a printer

Hi

whenever i try and add a new printer or view the properties of an existing printer the mmc hangs and either task is impossible. I have SP2 installed so the hotfix in

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917777

should be taken care of. Has anybody got any ideas as i'm starting to go round in circles?

Does it happen for all printers, or just a particular one?

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

Yeah it happens for all printers unfortunately. Looking in the event viewer it shows that it was the mmc that hung, but i'm not sure if it is the mmc that is faulty as i can create new mmc's, add components and work away happily
