mmc.exe is crashing

I'm trying to load some performance counters in performance monitor. Each time I click on the plus sign to add a counter I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error that mmc.exe has crashed. Any ideas how to fix? Do I reinstall MMC? Can I?
