What type of hardware are you using? What is the media type?
Are you using DVD-RAM diskettes or DVD-RAM disk?
Are you using the Panasonic DVD-RAM 4.7GB disks?

Its is a 8730 server, using Panasonic DVD-RAM 4.7GB disk. This system does not us the older DVD's that was in the cartridges.
Thank you for answering.

The 8730's are know for having this issue. they seem to work for a while after install and then fail. I have replace a few 8730's and it fixes the problem for a few weeks at best. i would set it to backup to FTP and then demand (if you are under SSU)a S8800 or other server to replace the 8730.

FTP is a better choice. If its a large system the nightly backup is bigger then 4.7G so backup to DVD RAM isn't practical. Also unless you swapping medium you only have 1 backup.
