Ok..my next little issue is...
I have a Magix R4.71 w/ MM4.0, with 8 ports
and 7 incoming Verizon Fios dial tones with
full time AA....
The problem is every 6th or 7th call..it goes
straight to a modem type of sound....no AA answer.
I know there is no modem or fax attached to these lines.
I have checked every perimeter in the Magix & MM
for a solution...
Is it possible the 12th port RMD is somehow connected
to one of the 1st 8 ports.
I have NOT replaced the 8 port card yet...don't if that is the
problem????
Any Ideas....Thanks

Double check the members of the voicemail calling group - perhaps it is circular and includes the built-in modem?

TTT..I did check that VM hunt group and its programmed
Linear...also the members...only the 8 ports were there.
I also made sure that the 8 ports used were
rotary enabled...I checked every perimeter I could think of
for anything connected to sta 61 RMD.
I am at a loss...I must say this is not a new problem, after
I installed this switch & VM...I noticed this issue...
The dial tones were right out of the Fios eq...new service.
The customer never complained about this, but I feel I need to
correct this.

Another thought to all this is that I could have
a defective 8 port card...I do have spare cards,
so I can prove it the card or not. I just don't know
what else it could be.

Have you checked the Verizon side , look at their lines and hunt group

Next time I'm on site, I going to check the
hunt group of the Fios dial tones.......
This issue is one of two possible problems.
1. Fios hunt gp overflowing to fax line.
2. 8 port card defective.
Thanks for the input.

I thought so too, but I called both the clients fax machines and they
rang 4 times before answering.
When I do get the modem/fax tone thru the AA...it answers immediately.
When I do get onsite..I can call Verizon Fios and have them check the
hunt group...
I can check to see if any one of the two fax machines do answer....
Then, as I have stated, I can replace the 8 port license card...

Do you know how to distinguish Fax from Modem tone when you hear it? That would help narrow down what type of device is answering.

What about an alarm line? It could be the alarm company split with one of the lines in the hunt and didn't connect correctly so their alarm modem is answering.

I didn't think of the alarm connected to the Fios lines....
good point...I will be at on-site next week...I start testing
to see if that is the problem.
Touch Tone Tommy....I never gave it any thought as to the difference
between a fax & modem tone...I'm sure there is a difference.
So what is the difference between the fax & modem handshake tone????

Call a fax and listen to it answer - High tone, space, modulated low tone. pause. modulated low tone, pause, modulated low tone. etc.

Call your MM auto attendant, and during the recording dial **3. High tone, higher tone, lower tone, even lower tone, even lower tone, no modulation

Ok...thanks for the info...
I'll post what I find next week.

I found the problem...
went on site and check the ALARM line to see if
was the culprit...yes, it was.
I moved it to a non-AA line...
All is well
Thanks for all the help.
