We have to option to purchase a Merlin Legend system with MLM007. One of the main features we are looking for is a calling group with timed overflow, delayed announcements, and prompt transfer. During our peak times of the year, the person answering the phones cannot keep up, we would like to have the phone ring 4 times, if no answer, have aa pickup, give the caller an option to hold for the operator (every 2 to 3 minutes) or leave a message.

Does the MLM007 handle this, if not what type of mail system do we need.

Thank you

Well the MLM-007 can do the overflow to AA, but the repeated announcements would have to be done by way of an external announcement unit or 2. There would also be a need to have an analog (T&R) Module to provide a connection to the external announcements.

All of the above can be handled by MERLIN MESSAGING, provided you equip it with enough PORTS (up to 12).

The MINIMUM Release of Legend will need to be a 7.0.

What is your call volume at peak times? The Legend 007 MLM does not have a "delayed announcments" option - everything else it can be programmed to do. For "delayed announcements" you need a Magix Messaging Release 2.5 or higher. The magix has up to 12-ports simultaneous transaction capability. The 007 MLM has a maximum 6-port capacity. Delayed Announcements would take up some of the ports in the Magix Voice Mail - so you would have to figure out how many you need dedicated for the AA vs. dedicated to delayed announcements - in total.

Just one person answers the calls (one extention) - we are a landscaping company and during our peak time we might have 3 to 5 calls to handle at one time, and we just take them as they come in. Currently we do not have any type of voice mail , and our phone system is back from the early 80's.

Well, then, except for the "delayed announcment" piece, a 4-port Legend 007 MLM would be fine - even for your "peak" hours. If you really, really, need the delayed announcement piece, you can do it through some external recorders - as merlinman indicated. The AA can route calls directly to specific extensions - so you may not have that much pressure on the operator to re-pickup calls that were routed to voice mail.
