Hi all,

Just curious...
We have a Compaq ML370 Server running Win2K Server and it houses a Compaq NC6136 Gig-E NIC. For some reason, we seem to be fine for the first couple of minutes sending / receiving data and then out of nowhere, the card just stops responding period. We've looked at the drivers, the PCI Slot it's sitting in, it's the correct chip-set, not the DX chip.

Anyone have a clue, we'd greatly appreciate the sharing of such knowledge. :)

TIA,

Have you tried swapping out the card for a different one?

What frame type and protocols are you using?

Does this card connect to an autosensing switch or hub? Sometimes the Auto-speed detection gets confused and causes problems. Does the switch allow remote management? If so, does any error condition show on the switch when this happens?

And, if you force the speed to 100 MBs, does the problem still occur?
