We have a brand new ml350 g3, which has a few problems, we keep getting a red light on the front panel which indicates inside health is critical. Took the side panel off and looked inside, there is a red light next to the server. does this mean that the processor has gone tits up? i have taken the processor out and put back in, anyone else had this trouble?

cheers

We had a similar problem, due to the Heatsink thermal paste not being in contact all across the processor.
Lift off the heatsink and ensure the paste is spread all accross, reseat pinsink and twist heatsink to spread paste before locking down clamp.

Look at the side panel illustraton on your server and it will give an indication of what the red light means. Depending on the location of the LEDs, different errors are prompted. Riffy is very right about the processor heatsink issue, but double check the error LED and see what is overheating. The error always doesn't point to the processor and can be a thermal zone exceeding threshold, which could be indicative of a fan failing or not spinning upto speed on the server.
