mksysb failure : backup: 0511-432 A write error occurred ... ulimit

Hello

I have the mksysb failed with this error:
/usr/bin/mksysb -i -e /<dir>/mksysb
backup: 0511-432 A write error occurred: A file cannot be larger than the value set by ulimit.
backup: 0511-079 The backup media may be damaged.
Use a different disk to run the backup.

The error concerned ulimit, but root user is unlimited
the filesystem /<dir> sized 5Gb.

Do you have any idea how to fix this error? I need to have my mksysb successfull.

Hi
if ulimit is OK ( unlimited for file size = -1)
perhaps, limited by FS type
For creating files > 5GB ( sup of 2GB limits):
JFS filesystem create with large FS option (verify with command lsfs -q)
or
JFS2 FS creation

I have ran into this problem before, what we did to fix the error was to set the ulimit to unlimited and then run the mksysb backup. The command is ulimit unlimited. Hope this works out for you.
