Mksysb emergency restore question

If we have a rs/6000 with 3 disks that crashes can we restore the system to say a B50 that has enough disk space but only one disk?

I guess my question is do the systems have to be indenitical?

No they don't have to be identical. It really depends on the OS levels of the hardware you are moving to. What version of AIX? I've run 4.3.3, 5.1, and 5.3 on B50's.

I once went from S7A's to p660's with no problems.

We're still running 4.3.3...I hope I didn't freak anybody out with the title. I was just curious is all.

if it is not the same hardware you will need disk 1 of the install cd's to load additional drivers for the different hardware
