Please help;

Server : Compaq ML330
Controller type : Integrated Dual channel Wide Ultra 3 SCSI
Existing HDD ( single Hdd ) : 18.2GB 10k Wide Ultra 3 SCSI

Problem:

Can i add a new hdd on the same controller with this spec:

18.2 7200K Ultra SCSI

I tried, i dosent work. I'm trying to do raid 1.Any solution

You need to make sure that the drive you are trying to add is compatable with your system. You also need to make sure that the drives ID number is not set to the same as an existing drive. Also check termination.

The termination is ok, the compatability is the problem. if i ask hp ( Compaq is now hp ), definately they say no way the 2 hdd is compatible but base on you guys experiance...you think it will work?

If HP say no, then I think you will find that no is the answer.
I haven't really kept up to date with the different SCSI options, but you would need a compatable controller for the drive. If you have it connected & it isn't being recognised it is not compatable.

Sorry it's not good news. It is always a bit of a blow when something wont work the way you want it to. I know, I have been there many times.

Have you considered an additional controller?
Depending on the hardware and the OS you may be able to use the drive. I've had 3 controllers active in unix controlling 3 chains.

Seen the cost of SCSI controllers recently? I managed to blow one up & was rather upset about it, couldn't afford another one.

My needs are not high end so I can use the cheap stuff. Think my last purchase was 10 for $100 used. I haven't looked at new for probably 5 years.
