I have implemented weight bases and UPS shipping modules through the admin area. HOWEVER, I receive this error after I continue checkout from the user account info screen

Miva Merchant has encountered a fatal error and is unable to continue. The following information may assist you in determining the cause of the error:

Error Code: #ERROR#
Description: Shipping Selection is required and no Shipping Methods were found. Please contact the administrator directly.

THIS IS A MAY-DAY PLEA TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I WILL HELP YOU WITH ANY FRONT END DESIGN NEEDS YOU MAY HAVE.

THANKS
JON

Jon, are you certain you have them turned on in the store (not just on the site, but the individual store)?

Are you sure you've defined shipping methods for the selected country/state and weight total?

As far as I can see I have set up the weight based module for the store itself. I do not know about the others. Can you elaborate please.

Thanks

If you have weight-based shipping, and you define rules for 1 pound to 5 pounds = $7, and 6 pounds to 10 pounds = $8, etc.

If someone places an order for products with total weights of 0.75 pounds, you'll likely get a message "cannot calculate shipping", because you haven't defined any shipping charges for that weight.

My weight based shipping is pretty much set up accurately. The problem seems to arise from the fact that there is no shipping method available for the customer to choose from!

How do I audit to make sure I have everything set up in the right places?

thanks
jon

It is a bit difficult to know what direction to send you in. If you want, contact me off-list and I can try to take a look at your Admin for you. I don't consider myself an expert, but I've set up several sites with a half-dozen different shipping modules.

How do I contact you off-list. I would be happy to let you in.

thanks for the offer

Jon

Use the contact info on the site in my sig line; it'll get to me.

IF I can help you solve it, I'll post back here with the found solution.

Well....it appears that in order for your shipping module to be active, one has to have their payment methods configured. I have been waiting to do that since I wasn't ready to go live...doh!

I thought I'd just check out the payment configuration and I implemented a dummy method and my shipping was live and good to go.

As far as the shared SSL...my host is going to provide a bit of Miva support and look at the issue.

thanks for all you help

jon

Like you, jon, I wouldn't have thought about one affecting the other, although not having a payment module would certainly affect the ability to checkout.

In the unsolicited advice department: hosts that offer Miva Merchant as simply another bit of stuff in the pile of their free add-ons generally don't do well in supporting Merchant when hiccups arise. We were with a 3-letter company for our first year, and when things were fine, they were fine - but when something broke, they were hopeless.

If you believe Miva Merchant is your mid- to long-term system of choice, you might consider moving to a host that specializes in Miva Merchant.
