Hello all.
I'm not after info how to rebuild the HDD, etc as I already know how.
The information I am after is, what is the MAXIMUM size of Hard Drive that the system will CORRECTLY recognise?
I recently had to buy a 16GB 50 pin drive as that is all I could get at the time but the system saw it as under 120MB so when it came to formatting it (using SCRATCH) it said it was under-sized!!

After the SCSI tests (which all passed) it states 'RUN Message, ADRS = 002BAE' whereas on the 'TEST' drive we have (which i think is 4.5GB) it states 'ADRS = 05F9C4' - is the ADRS a return message from the drive stating number of sectors or similar? This would make sense as the 16GB reported size has probably 'rolled over' in the CCU controller register or only the last or first 6 digits or similar has been read from the return message!

Or am I on completely the wrong track.

The drives I am having trouble with are Seagate ST318417N. I understand it is possible to programme the drive to a different (lower) capacity which I think would then work with the controller but I cannot find any software to do this, not even on Seagate's website :-(

Thanks all

OK, ignore my last, didn't realise that there was 2 places in the boot process that showed ADRS! Still need to know maximum size of drive though. Thanks

no idea. They originally we 40 G. Think I saw as large as 80.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Origionally 40 G then 80G and finally 160G (just before the big disaster in Thgailand). But the latter will onloy be seen correctly by the CX/CXi 11 controllers.

Last time I checked you could still get the 40 & 80 gig drives (brand new) from Dean Technologies - 1-800-451-2089
They had both Hitachi & Western Digital.

It's ok guys, i've sorted it - didn't read the jumper setting table correctly on the replacement drives! Doh!! Can't believe I made such a fundamental mistake...

BTW - our test SX2000 (LW 34.xxx) only has a 4.5GB drive! It is the original one as supplied from Mitel.
I presume the larger drives are from later release hardware or HDD swapouts due to failure?

The replacement drives are 16GB and working fine on the system.

Thanks all..
