HELP!
I've got a SX200 that crashed. The 2nd digital card has line 5 and 10 on. The 3rd digital card has line 6 and 8 on. The Bay card TX & RX are dim and alarm light is on. The LED lights show E above and 8 below. The Superconsul 1000 and phones are dead. Can someone help me????

Hi, have you power cycled everything? I take it you have 1 SX-200 controller and 1 bay?

Can you log into the controller?

I've cycled it a number of times. i don't know anything about the system. My customer sweet talked me into looking at it. The phones don't power up at all...
Before it died the consul showed an alarm. With advise i changed the trunk card that displayed an error. Nothing changed. After repowering the system it crashed.

Ok what is the controller doing? is the power light on it? Does the disk drive periodically blink and on the far right there are 3 alarm LEDs are any lit up?

I think you are using a fiber optic cable to connect your controller to the bay. Make sure that they are hooked up right (RX - RX / TX - TX).

What event happened that notified you that something was wrong?

Power light is on. Green light on the right does blink. I never touched the bay. It worked OK up until today. The system crashed. The LED's on the pwr show an "E" on the top & an "8" below it. I wish I new more about the system..

Where or what card are you seeing this E & 8? Long shot but you might try re seating the cards (Power off before doing so)

The far right, (power control). Just to the left of the power light.

The displays are set back about an inch or so I could be mistaken about the card when I think of it. It could have been the bay card??

Argh, I don't have a diagnostic manual here so I don't know what that error code is.

I think your going to have to get a pro to come in and check it out.

Sorry about that, was hoping it something simple.

Jim

Thanks for the effort. We always hope that there is an easy solution to a problem or something simple that we missed. But we can't always win. With any luck we win more than we lose!!!

Hi, upon re-thinking this as you mentioned none of the sets are getting energized. I'm wondering if it could be a borked bay power supply.

Normally if the controller has gone south, the sets complain about "no sync" and the LEDs do there little light show.

But I'd feel more sure if you can get onto the controller.

And just to be sure, this is an SX-200 not an SX-2000? I can't see on the Bay controller card (or any other card) where this E & 8 could come from.

Granted I only have a BCC card, not a BCC III and that may have the ability to show codes.

If the trunk card popped you would get a major error on the console but the sets should be able to work internally.

Jim

It is an SX-200. When the system is powering up the upper LED starts a little show then becomes a "H", next it goes dark then after quite a while it comes back on whith the "E". at that time the 8 appears below it on the other LED and the lights come on, on the other cards. I'm trying to find a tech in Niagara Ont. area.

If I push the reset button will it wipe out the memory on the system?

The power supply is gizfinktoe on that bay.

Thanks ny, ok jons, looks like you've got confirmation that the bay power supply is the likely suspect. Call around you area and see if you can't find a Mitel dealer. Ask them if they have the a power supply for your bay. Be sure to give them part #.

Good luck!

Jim

Mitel Direct has an office in Toronto. It might take them a few hours to get there. Im just over the border but if I tried to get a power supply accross I'd be serving a life sentence in Leavenworth.

You could also contact Dean Enterprises and have them overnight you a PS. They advertise on the site.

Thanks guys. I removed the system & took it in and had it checked the BAY seams OK. There was a problem with one of the LS/GS cards. Then the memory got wiped out. I found a tech to come out tomorrow AM & reprgm.

E 8 means that the MOSS options (licenses) don't match the system ID. If there is no database backup available, then programming from scratch is only option. You may have to contact Mitel to get the MOSS options. This is a discontinued product, but they may still provide if you ask nice!
A lot of companies/techs will take a backup and place on a floppy disk and leave that in the bay. Did you find anything like that? Any backup will/should have all the licensing needed without having to contact Mitel.

If you did not take enough time to get it right the first time...

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

Hi paterson, I'm a bit a newbie, where would that E8 code appear? I never have seen digits or letters on a bay card or controller (using sx-200)

Thanks!
