We have a Mitel sx-200 with 3 cellular lines as the only trunks to the outside. We get dialtone on the line and press 9 to access the cellular trunk and dial the number. We get dead air. If the number is dialed again, not including the 9 TAC, the call will go through.
Why the need to enter the number twice?

Sounds like two different things.

There is a TAC (Trunk Access Code) of 9. You can also access lines individually, by selecting the button that corresponds to that line.

How is your system configured?

Right now the pbx is programmed to dial 9. Then the user dials the 10 digit number. They hear no ringing but they are connected to an outgoing trunk. So, the users figured out that if they dial the number again, they know the call will go through. mmeehan and I are trying to figure out what might be wrong in our programming or trunk card optioning.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Is it possible one of the trunks is failing and the second call is accessing a different trunk?

It seems that the call is hitting the proper trunk, but the trunk is not sending the stored digits. What can be set wrong that allows a user to dial a number, the system connects to a trunk, but does not send the digits? Therfore, forcing the user to dial the party again once connected?

Thanks very much in advance for any recommendations.

The system does a line check checking for Voltage.

One of your lines might be out of spec.

There are very good diagnostics built in to the Sx200 for testing and correcting issues.

Hopefully you have access to a manual for the processes.

Unfortunatly I dont have the manual. The Trunk card is a 9109-011-000. Is there any options on this card that might possably be set wrong?

Oh,

You really should say when you have older equipment.

That trunk card has flea clips on each cct that determine whether the trunks are ground start or loop start.
