Client has an old Mitel sx-200 and at a 130 bed motel and wants to add AA, VM and WU service that the guest can activate themselves.

Can this system be upgraded to provide these services?

I have looked at DuVoice and so far I like what I see. However DuVoice said that they do make an interace for the older Mitels but that I might have to go to a Mitel auth. installer or that they may D/C the upgrade some tie in teh future.

The client is on alimited budget so I wanted to keep his 2500 sets with MWI to start with. These sets are in pretty condition.

I work on Parter, Nortel and the small merlin. Du VOice said they like the Magix the best.

I was just thinking of replacing the KSU with a Nortel and add about 9 ASM mods for the analog 2500 sets and add the DuVoice.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Old SX200 covers a lot of territory. You need to tell us something about the software and hardware.

E.g.
SX200 analog with 205/217 software
SX200 Digital 336 cabinet with F60 software
SX200 EL with Server style Pernodes L18
SX200 ELx with Rack mountable Pernodes running Q45

All the above are "OLD" but the answer is different for each one.

I will get the info. from the cabinet.

Can you tell me if I can use a newer version of the Operator COndsole. I think it said it was a Super Console.

Also, have you ever added a DuVOice to an SX-200?

DuVoice would be supported as a ONS integration only (analog).

COV is a type of digital (not really digital), and was supported by a large number of voicemail manufactures. You should NOT install COV in anyway - just keep it analog.

The SuperConsole 1000 is still in production today. It will be discontinued in 2009, with a replacement that is IP.

DuVoice sais they do not like to use their system on the older Mitel's and that they will be DC this version soon.

I wonder if they just want to sell the new stuff and are just saying that.

This customer really does not need to replace the entire Mitel just to add the DuVoice unless they absoloutly have to.

I guarentee you they will want to sell you a analog voicemail integration (what we Mitel folks call ONS). This will work fine on ANY NEW or OLD Mitel.

Key thing to remember is PMS integration - to ensure the mailboxes get cleaned up when the guest is checked out.

i have many covoice with cov integration on older 200's they work great with pms integration many hospitality features!!

No doubt, but try and find a COV Dialogic card that still functions 100% - those cards are VERY, VERY old.

I have 2 on my filing cabinet that are 100 0/0
that i'll part with!!

That's nice. The auto dealership on the other side of town has a 1984 Buick for $250. I won't be picking it up either.

COV is so old, it came out before I was born (I am not lying).

Be nice.
I have 48 ports of COV integration running on a 2K to an Octel 350 that refuses to die. Drives have close to 100k hours on them and just keep going & going. COV integration has also been trouble-free.

This customer is so small that they just verbally notify the front desk of room status. So PMS interface may not be an issue. This is my first Motel so I am learning about this stuff.

Do you suggest that I get them use to using the system to notify the front desk or just leave their old manual system in place?

This a totally new owner and manager to this site.

They seem to be happy with the old Mitel and I would rather not change the entire system out if I do not have to. I am one of these installers that would rather keep and old system maintained than sell the customer on a new system and spend a lot of their money just cause I want to make a quick buck.

When it is time to upgrade the customer remembers that I had respect for their money and they usually give me the business for the new systema nd refer me to a lot of new clients.
