HI Guys,

Here is my scenario:

San Francisco (Mitel Switch here) -------50MB--MPLS-----Chicago (Mitel Switch Here)

The user is in Geogia and she can receive calls and dial and in and out but her phone is showing Applications Loading. Her consumer grade router does not allow port forwarding to the LAN only by IP. I am in San francisco.

I have restarted the webserver of the Chicago switch yet no luck.

I got a test phone set it up in my home office and I am getting the same thing. I told her to unplug her phone. I have a 5320E Mitel Phone It is provisioned and can make calls you can see the extension / time and date and the users name BUT you see applications loading error.

I have disabled packtfiltering on my ATT uverse 50/12 and opened up the following ports:

voip mitel 4000 4000 - 4000 TCP/UDP 4000
voip mitel 44000 44000 - 44000 TCP 44000
voip mitel 6880 6880 - 6880 TCP/UDP 6880
voip mitel 20001 20001 - 20001 TCP/UDP 20001
voip mitel 2116 2116 - 2116 TCP/UDP 2116
voip mitel 35000 35000 - 35000 TCP/UDP 35000
voip mitel 37000 37000 - 37000 TCP/UDP 37000
voip 21000 21000 - 23000 TCP/UDP 20000
voip mitel 6801 6801 - 6801 TCP/UDP 6801
voip mitel 6802 6802 - 6802 TCP/UDP 6802
voip mitel 3999 3999 - 3999 TCP 3999
voip mitel 443 443 - 443 TCP 443
voip mitel 5566 5566 - 5566 TCP 5566
voip mitel 5570 5570 - 5570 TCP 5570
voip mitel 5567 5567 - 5567 UDP 5567
voip mitel 30081 30081 - 30081 TCP 30081

Rebooted my router yet no luck. am i missing something? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been doing voice for 20 years but on Cisco / Shoretel / Switchvox / Hosted PBX's

TIA,

Cheers,

Raj

How are the remote phones connecting to the site? Is it via port forwarding and you are putting the phone into teleworker mode?

Can you see what ports are open/forwarded at the main office? All those ports that are open shouldn't be required at the teleworker end.

We put in the IP of the Chicago Mitel switch, I have put in all of the tcp and udp ports i posted earlier on my local firewall. Yeah it is way to many ports, but i am just trying to eliminate any issues. I have tried two phones as of now, so it is the same result.

I have a 4G modem which I will setup to a Peplink router and see if that does it just to eliminate my own Uverse Firewall.

One thing I did try also was putting the phone in SIP mode, added the TFTP Server's IP same as the Teleworker mode's IP you see all of the 4 lines, DND and everything light up but then it says disp user name. So if you try to make a call it says proxy not available

That obviously didn't work. I factory wiped it and put it back to Teleworker Mode and so the phone is working just not downloading the apps.

Thanks,

Update 1:00PM

Got my Peplink Balance Core FW added a USB 4G LTE modem to it.

Opened up the UDP and TCP ports required.

Still no change. Applications Loading Error still persists.

Very weird.

Thanks for your help.

Below is what port I forward to PABX for teleworker.

69&20001/UDP
6800-6802/TCP
3998&3999/TCP
6004-6261/UDP

Some of the ports you have are for system management. i.e. 4000, 44000, 443

ahh i am missing 6004-6261 udp let me give that a shot.

Thanks,I will update you in the a.m.

Looks like you are missing 3998/tcp and 69/udp as well.

Check that TFTP is working correctly as I believe this can cause the sets to get stuck on applications loading.

Run the TNA against yoir public ip, should show what is wrong

Update.

I put in all of the ports correctly for teleworker, reboot that no luck.

Came back to the Uverse Modem Model BGW210-700. Setup the teleworker ports and yet no luck.

I know from experience that certain phones just don't like DHCP for home networks as consumer grade modems suck.

So I wiped the pone reconfigured it with a static IP added the subnet mask / gateway and the tftp server address. Yet it is the same result.

So the phone works if you are teleworker mode or non teleworker mode using the tftp server.

@Jpruder sorry what is TNA, at this point I would be happy to consult with one of you guys who can help me out, as a paid engagement. I have put it quite a bit of time.

Just out of curiosity do the Mitel's in this mode need option 66 on the dhcp server ?

Thanks,

R-

@sarond or @jpruder, i am new to this forum is there away i can work with one of you guys, i was trying to figure out how to pm on this system but i am not sure.

Thanks,

Are you putting the phones in teleworker mode by holding down '7' on booting the phone?

Normally a home router won't be able to provide custom DHCP options so when putting a Mitel phone in teleworker mode it will just use standard DHCP options. You only need to enter the IP address of the teleworker server into the phone.

TNA (Teleworker Network Analyser) is a tool that tests for connectivity from your PC running the tool to the system. It's not really meant for the 250 so you would need to add customer ports.

Also confirming you are talking about a MiVoice Office 250 (aka Mitel 5000).

Yup this is the PBX for sure. As I mentioned before we have two switches.

I have put the phone in Teleworker Mode and in normal made adding the Wan IP of the FW of the customers ISP as the TFTP Server.

The phone works in both modes, I have also setup a local static ip on the phone to see if that would make any difference. I did manage to find a user who has this setup but the phone he has is a 5312. single line LCD display

My other thought is to swap her phone out with a 5312. Thanks for your help.

See the attached image.

Going by a document on Mitel KMS (Knowledge Management System) it seems port 3998-3999 can cause the issue of application loading.

Ensure they are both getting through. I know you've already said you've added all ports but just double check.
