Is it just me or has something happened to Mitel quality control lately? In the past 3 months I've had a new bri card with port 2 faulty, a new 5360 completely dead, a new CXI with the 16 port poe switch faulty and yesterday a new 5330 with the cancel and transfer keys swapped with eachother. Is it just my bad luck or has anybody else noticed this? In 14 odd years of installing Norstar and BCM I never once had an item faulty from new.

Not our case.

Since 1999 working with Mitel Products and never received a faulty part.

Have you complained to your distributor?

Regards,

Daniel

IMO quality took a noticeable dip when they moved manufacturing to China. How soon we forget the high-end 5340 instruments with some of the numerals rubbing off the keypad. We also had a couple of DOA 80-gig disk drives (or ones which failed within 6 months of deployment, also from China). Prior to that our experience mirrored that of danramirez - bulletproof.

Nothing out of the normal here either.

I did once have a 5212IP phone that had the internals of a 5224IP phone with 12 buttons which confused the hell out of me as I could not register the phone. (but this was 5 or 6 years ago)

I hope you have flagged these faulty new items (DOA's) to Mitel product support.
This way if there are any manufacturing issues they will at least be able to follow up a QC report.

Couple of faulty HD too, a few years ago and I think 1 DOA handset but thats it. Apart from CX that failed spectaculary and I was never told why; I put another one in and Mitel refunded the cost of the system but not my time (it failed 2 weeks after installation).

I've seen a slippage as well.

My failure rate on phones appears to be running at about 5%, DOA - Out of the box.

Recently I've also had a bad Raid Controller

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

had a DOA controller the other day. not had an issue for a while prior to that.

just had out of box Cxi II and DSP II actually start to smoke after loading 4.2

Only experienced with handsets in the last year

Mainly dodgee handset cords and handpieces across all models, and a couple 5312 with transfer and hold keys swapped

Tdmneil you've had some bad luck ! In over 25 years in this game all manufacturers have DOA's but the Mitel kit has out performed most but same as MitelInMyBlood a few issues with numberals rubbing off some handsets 2 or 3 years ago but issue resolved quickly.

It could well just be my bad luck, none of my coleauges have had the same probs and we're putting in a lot of 3300's at the moment! I'll see how the next few months go.

I must have bad luck as well.

On new systems out of the box in the past 2 years I've had a bad power supply, 2 bad AMB's, 1 system with only one voicemail port working... was on with tech support for 4 hours reprogramming it until I finally replaced the whole controller (reused the hard drive) and it worked fine.

For the phones - I have had buttons mixed up on phones, either upside down or in the wrong place, bad patch cords that come with the phones, not to mention I have about 5% DOA phones too.

Have had an ASU II that was labelled AX Controller in the last couple of months and 2 faulty 5312s out of batch of 100 or so. Do not remember a single out of box failure of SX2000 hardware during the time we were installing it
