I have 2 PRI links between my mitel sx2000 and call manager voip, im trying to send the * or # signs across the PRI to mitel, the call is either dropped or returns reorder tone, i have both sides programmed correctly i beleive, did i miss somthing in IMAT? to allow these to be sent and or accepted?

krmctech,

Can you provide the isdn q931 debugs for the calls that you're trying to route? Are you trying to include the * or # in the initial setup or during a call (like to navigate an IVR or something)?

What signaling are you using between Callmanager and the gateway (h323 or mgcp)? What codec on the IP leg of the call is used? If the dtmf out-of-band signaling is not working right, we could be passing dtmf as audio through a g729 stream, which can be pretty hit or miss.

I have overhead paging set up on the Mitel side, *70 is the access code for it, if this is dialed from a CAS T1 it will come across just fine, i have heard that PRI does not pass special characters but dont know if that is true. The PRI is set up as DS1, ESF,DTMF on both ends. I may have to strip digits and re-insert to make it work but that creates other issues call routing as well.

In most systems "#" forces the expiration of the digit collection timer. On such a system this character would cause the previous digits to be sent and call processing to begin.

You would need to send this in-band for it to work, I suspect.

I would ask what if anything is in the middle of the connection as the last time I looked a Cisco (2006) it required Westek protocol converters (or similar) to bridge between the systems as the CM doesn't like anything faintly European if protocols... if you do have a box in between then maybe the problem is there.

If not are you using DPNSS,QSIG or what?

Traces would be handy too!
