MITEL L2 switch enabled.Icp in continueous boot.Can't log on.How do I disable it.Communication down.URGENT ASSISSTANCE SOUGHT.

More info please,

L2 switch enabled, was it not before?

ICP in continuous boot - you mean to say that it constantly rebooting itself?

Can't log on - log on to what? the controller or switch?

If controller, are you using the maintenance port?

3300Mxe.The vLan L2switch was disabled before.Forget continueous booting. It boots up & finish but the ip phones dont work. They just show ip addresses at the same time I cant log onto the icp via internet. It say cent display page. How can I default the icp back to factory settings hoping this disables the L2 through hyperterminal on the maintenance port? This means I will lose everything unless there is a way to disable the L2.

Ok, I am not familiar with the 3300, but you should be able to get in via the maint port, the bad news is i don't know what command to execute.

Are the IP sets powered via the switch or on power bricks? how complex is the subnet/vlan?

Can you put a temp switch in place?

Ip phones powered by network switch.I only have a switch & the icp.Thats my Lan.Not complex at all.I need to know how to fix the problem via the maintenance port?Only hyperterminal is usable,Telnet is failing to display.

Ok shoot, I'm out of simple solutions. I assume you have power cycled the switch and all the basics?

I have a manual I could send you if don't have one.

I'm pretty green to all this, but saw your post and was hoping to help.

The ICP ip address is 192.168.1.2 so if I open a web browser & put the above ip address it says page can not be opened. This was caused by the L2 switch I said is enabled & the to get the phones working is by disabling that L2 but at this point I dont know how.

try
Does the switch show the IP sets? As in are the leds lighting up? What has changed, what do you think may have caused this to fail? Power surge, system setting change etc.

The icp was working fine I then went into system configuration to sort out the console that was not getting ip address from the icp.Under IP configuration theres Layer 2 Switch were it says Tag VLAN 1 on Trunk Ports-Enable/Disable.I then Enabled & the ICP went down as soon as I clicked on SAVE.So that was the cause no doubt & Disabling it again is my solution but now I dont know how to do it via the maintenance port.

I don't know exactly wat's wrong in your configuration now, but use the command vlan_off on the serial port

On the serial port I'm using Hyperterminal.Kindly guide me through how to enter the cmnd vlan_off.I would be very grateful. My life depends on it working soon.

Connect with the serial port (9600 N 8 1)
give a (few) enter(s)

You will get a prompt
-->

Simply type in

--> vlan_off (enter)

disconnect the Mitel from your network and connect your laptop/pc directly to de LAN port.

try to log into the mitel with your webbrowser
perhaps you need to give your laptop/pc a fixed IP address

My laptop is using static ip 192.168.1.150.After doing the above process my web browser still wont display the page.Is there how I can just command the icp via the serial port to revert to the factory setting then I can start reprogramming because I hadnt backed up yet?

Ok, What was the response with the command vlan_off ?
Try VLAN_OFF

Check the boot parameters also, perhaps there is something wrong with your IP address settings?

Are you connected on the right LAN port on the Mitel?(In the past I had a problem also, till I discovered i was connected to the WAN port)

if the VLAN is off and you are connected to the right LAN port and the ipaddresses are correct, then there is normally no reason why you can't ping/browse to the Mitel.
(or your laptop is the problem, frewall etc. )

I was using the same laptop & same web browser no firewall before enabling the L2. Connecting to the right LAN port.Problem persisting.Response when input vlan_off

did you check the boot parameters?

post a copy if you have doubts about it

Symptoms
Unable to
connect to the
controller

Probable cause
Database being used is
from a system that had
dual-VLANs enabled,
so the management PC,
untagged on VLAN 1,
cannot reach the
controller on the Voice
VLAN.

Corrective Action
Run vlan_off command from the
RTC console (through the RS-232
serial port) to reset the controller
and disable the VLANs.
Run vlan_on to enable the
VLANs.
The commands will cause the
controller to reboot, so wait a
couple minutes before trying to
connect with your PC, attached to
CX port 17.
