Are Mitel Hard Drives proprietary? Or can you stick in any IDE compatible drive. They look like a standard Maxtor IDE drive to me?

Thanks in advance

Webmany, this is 3300 specific. If there is a 200ICP Process, I don't know it.

Version 7.1 and up will not start on non-MITEL (may be non-maxtor) HDD. Installation goes well until reboot. Than it restarts with one of the messages
"Service Layer Coordinator FAILED to start"

The same MX700 controller and Seagate HDD work fine together with all v.6 and v.7.0
New feature or bug? How about v.8

With MITEL HDD (Maxtor 40G) everything is fine.

Thanks Slapin, good heads up.

A co-worker of mine successfully loaded release 8 on a Maxtor 80Gb hard drive without issues.

Johnven,
The problem might be that you're using a Seagate drive. Try again with a Maxtor and see if that works. I'm guessing the system checks the drive manufacturer during bootup somehow.

Got it to work with the seagate (it was the slave/master pin) all looks ok and going to install it in a system and see what happens.

Thanks for the Update Johnven.

Nice to know seagate works as well.

Watch for master/slave pins, got it.

You don't need the files anymore, re-read kwbMitel's post from Oct 30.

I wrote a FAQ for this.

Thanks guys.

I know that it will work with release 6.1 but on a system where it has 6.0 changing to 6.1 I will have to change the password.

What I will do is to have the system use the release 6.1 to format the hard drive and then load 6.0

As of version 6.1 UR1, you can partition a new drive manually when you install it. To do this, follow the instructions below.

Step 1
======
- Change the fields in the BootLine as shown below

boot device : motfcc
file name : Boot_Install
host inet(h) : Address of Ftp Server which holds the MN3300 software (i.e. 10.44.16.126)
other(o) : FixPartition

Step 2
======
- Reboot the system

The system will be doing the partition automatically, formatting the hard drive and installing the desired software on the box as usual.
