I have recd quite a weird request from the customer

He wants me to configure the following:
When office phone (xx40) rings 5 times with no answer, divert to xx42 (kitchen). If kitchen (xx42) rings for 5 times without answer, divert call back to voice mail on office phone.

Please help !!

Here's what I did:

Manusally configured the call forward from xx40 to xx42.

Rerouted call as 1st alternative on xx42 to xx40

and again rerouted call as 1st alternative on xx40 to voice mail box

Is this done correctly ??? Please advise

No,

You do not need to return to xx40 as the system will present the first called number to vm

You need to be cautious with forwarding vs routing as they will fail to act as you might expect unless you know the quirks.

Simplest solution:

Use Call reroute 1st alternative on xx40 to xx42 and second alternative to VM
Set xx42 to forward to vm if busy
Set COS for xx40 timer - Call Forward - No Answer Timer = 20 (this controls 1st alternative)
Set COS for xx40 timer - ANSWER PLUS System Reroute Timer = 40 (this controls 2nd alternative)

Of course this all assumes that you are using analog sets and can't simply program ringing line appearances with delay ringing.

Thanks man, sounds awesome !!!

Just 1 last thing, as I am new to the MITEL

I know how to configure first 2 lines u suggested.
However, Can you tell me step by step process to configure the below lines:

Set COS for xx40 timer - Call Forward - No Answer Timer = 20 (this controls 1st alternative)
Set COS for xx40 timer - ANSWER PLUS System Reroute Timer = 40 (this controls 2nd alternative)

Reply at earliest.

You should probably setup a specific COS for xx40

Determine the COS of xx40

Form = Class Of Service Options

Copy existing COS for xx40 to new COS (unused typically = unnamed)

Find and change the options mentioned.

The call rerouting forms are named Call rerouting first alternative and call rerouting 2nd alternative
- Use a blank line that is not #1
- set 1st alt values to This and the dn to xx42 (while your here note one that is set up for sending calls to VM)
- set the 2nd alt values to THEN and the DN to the pilot of your VM hunt group.
- Then use the call rerouting form to assign the values above to xx40
- Set the 1st alt for xx42 to the voicemail
