If you're reading this then like myself you may have become confused when swapping out a failed CXi unit, you've swapped the CXi and moved the H/D and i Button booted up the system and have no PoE on the LAN ports, can't ping the Layer 2 switch when plugged directly to it or the RTC, however you can ping both from the system LAN port.

Don't panic, the reason for this is likely that the new system has been booted up with a higher level software on the H/D which in turn will upgrade the on board flash, which will not downgrade itself during a bootup with an older level of software (i.e. the customer old H/D).

This can be further confirmed via the RTC shell issuing a warning Layer 2 switch not running starting MIPS.

To fix this perform a manual software install on an H/D either the one supplied with the new system or the customers old one (don't forget the backup!). Allow the system to boot and test and confirm then swap the H/D and ibutton or reapply the database.

This worked for me recently the system was shipped with 10.1 and I downgraded to 7.1, although I have heard of issues downgrading to6 and below!

Hope this helps.

UpgradeBootrom ALL

That command from ESM should force a check of current firmware on the RTC and E2T with whatever is loaded on the disk.

If they are different it will replace it - ie. upgrade or downgrade

That should be alot quicker than reloading, relicensing and restoring.
