Mitel CCC Update

Dear Sir/Madam

Previously we have been using Version 5.6 for the IQ and CCM, we have never been able to update CCC from our client machines having said this if we cancel the updates CCC worked.

The problem is we have recently upgraded to version 5.8 for both the IQ and CCM. We are still unable to do the update (on windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit) and we are unable to log on (error message) “The formatter threw an exception……….”

During installation of the CCC the machine the client passes the test link to the server. We have disabled any proxy setting/ windows firewall etc.

Just wondering if anyone else has experience any similar problems

Yep I have a couple of recently upgraded 5.8 sites that are giving me hell with client and licensing issues.
Some clients worked - none via automatic updates.
We had to fully uninstall - delete registry key and any folders and start from scratch.Even then some haven't been able to load. with Windows exception errors.
I have an open ticket for this with Mitel to try and get it resolved.
 
Thank you for your reply, we have removed firewall settings and proxy settings still no updates nor are we able to log on.

Do you know if theres anyway of updating the clients machine manually, I think it needs the hot fixes.

We had this problem intermittently as well and had to re-install the new client setup package that came with 5.8 on some of the client machines. The update problem is likely related to IIS as Prairiefyre specified in their recent KB article. I know in the past if IIS is down the test link will still work but you won't get the update connection when trying to log in to CCC.

 
Thanks, I checked IIS settings IP address was set to grant all computers access to ISS.

I denied access and allowed my test machine IP Address through. Re-installed CCC done this a few times now still not updating.Restarted IIS etc.

What version of IIS are you using were currently using IIS6. The client setup package was downloaded from CCM web interface (which we can access from any machine) is there an updated client setup we should be using?
 
Thanks Surferx0. After re-installing CCC a few times and setting the IIS to deny access and adding client IP address as an exception this seems to be working.

I had to add CCM server to trusted sites on clients.
- also make sure bits and pfyreupdater services are started.
full uninstall , delete registry keys and any folders created .
then reinstall worked ok.
