Mitel 6940 SIP Firmware

Does anyone know if there is an open SIP firmware package for the 6940 (similar to the 6800 series)?

I've acquired a brand new 6940, but it's got Mitel firmware instead of SIP. I'd love to use it on my Asterisk box.

Some google searches seems to indicate that they may have discontinued or locked down the open source SIP firmware - or that it may only be available through restricted channels.

Can anyone confirm or help out with a 6940.st file?

Can 6900 phones be used with any Call Manager?
No. The 6900 firmware is locked so that it will only
work with Mitel platforms.
If a user attempts to
configure and connect to a third-party server (e.g.
