All,

I must be overlooking something silly because I cannot get this rascal of a handset working.

1. MCD 6
2. Handset connected to Wi-Fi
3. WinPDM installed
4. Have all MOL available software and docs.

Observations:

1. Handset advanced menu - limited SIP options (Not like manual shows)
2. Web browser to handset - After login does not allow me to change anything/see anymore options
3. WinPDM uploading anything just hangs.

Any pointers will be most welcome.

Have you got the USB programming module that you use to register, program and update the handset? You shouldn't have to set anything up via the handset menus manually as the templates you create and apply in WinPDm contain all the info they will need. But you will need to apply the template using the USB module or via a WSM if you have a lot of handsets.

Hi Devolution,

Yeah I have the programming cradle and the WinPDM software can see my device, think the problem is I can't add a device until a template is uploaded.

where do I find an example template to upload?

thanks

If you get a freshly unboxed phone and plug it straight into the cradle, it should ask you to associate a directory number to it that you have setup with WinPDM already in the device tab. Once associated you can right click and "Use as Template" for all subsequent devices.
Within this template you will need to make some basic changes so that it connects to your WIFI and MCD.

Network -> Network A -> Change Wifi Network Name, SSID, Security Mode and Passphrase.
Device -> Settings -> User Display Text (I put "Mitel Extn" here), Date Format.
VoIP -> SIP -> Primary SIP Proxy (IP of MCD where user is configured), SIP Proxy Password (assigned in the authentication tab of user in user & device form)

Once the template is created you can right click the device in the number tab and apply the template.

The trick is to get one extn working and the rest will work as the template is the same.

If you have made any changes to extns through the phones menu's, I suggest restoring the settings to default and starting again. I think you can do this through the phones admin menu.

I have had issues with the device not recognising the WIFI passphrase before and had to manually enter it through the phones admin menus. I could then export this phones template and apply to the others.

Thanks for help so far, however I can't seem to import a definition file which is required to then setup templates/devices.

Think the MOL course is needed now.

Cheers

Have you downloaded the 5624 firmware files from MOL? I think from memory the handsets get shipped with the ver 2.x.x firmware and you can upgrade them to ver 4.x.x however you need to have ver 2.x.x installed as well to initially recognise them.

All the versions are on MOL. They should be .pkg files. You can add these into WinPDM by selecting File->File Management and then locate the .pkg file one at a time and add them.

Once added you should be able to dock a phone and start programming as described in previous posts.
