Is there a way to force the firmware to reload on a 5330 to an older version? We have a 5330 that we had on a test rig running 9.0UR3, but want to connect it to a Mitel 3000. Problem is the firmware will not download from the 3000 and it says that it needs firware downloaded.

The 3000 does download firmware on older 5330s that have not been connected to the 3300.

Take to a site running lower software. Or downgrade a spare system if you have one.

Perhaps you could try getting the firmware and put on a separate TFTP server. Then either statically assign the IP of the TFTP server or temporarily change DHCP options.

If you did not take enough time to get it right the first time...

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

It has been my experience that the phone will download the firmware if the offered firmware is a different version than the one loaded. (Up or Down).

Granted I have not tried this recently.

Are you saying that you have tried connecting to an older revision box and the firmware does not download and the phone is displaying an error saying that you must?

Your question also seems to say that a test rig running 9.0UR3 and a Mitel 3300 are different things. Please explain.

I am experiencing the same problem. I have a 5330 that was connected to a 3300 but I am now trying to connect it to a 3000 and apparently the firmware loaded for the 3300 is not compatible with the 3000. My problem is that I checked with Mitel and was told there is currently no fix! If anyone knows differently I am all ears!

Just out of interest I pressed on with this and by assigning static addresses got the phone to boot. It stopped on requiring a contrast setting then after a short while tried booting again. The second time I saved the contrast setting and the phone came good and would work with the 3000 but the banner came up that a software upgrade was required. I can't find anyway to initiate that upgrade. Anyone got any ideas?

N.B. I had entered a valid TFTP server address which when tested on a new phone worked perfectly.

If you have a system somewhere running the older version you could pull it top you with ftp

Make a backup of the current one and replace it with the older one

No need to downgrade the complete system

I am finding, at least on the 5330, that the firmware will not downgrade. The phone was running on a MCD 4 box. I tried it on a 9.0 UR3 and 4.0 200ICP and the firmware will not change.

I can only speak for what I have observed on a 3300. (I misread 3000 earlier as 3300 sorry)

Patersons suggestion aligns with mine. If you can setup a 3300 with a capatible load then the phone should download the firmware. (Not 100% confident though)

You read correctly. I am trying to move a phone that was on a 3300 onto a 3000.

install the software package for an older 3300 release onto a PC. run a TFTP server software (SolarWinds has a free one), and extract the tftp.tar file from your FTP root to the TFTP folder. Static assign the address of the PC as the TFTP server on the phone, and reboot the phone. Once the firmware download is complete, be sure to disconnect the phone before it re-connects with a 3300, as this will force an upgrade of the firmware.
