Hello everyone,

I am trying to make one of our phones act as a conference phone for our conference room.

the phone i am trying is a Mitel 5220 so far i was able to have 6 instance of the same extension, but when i try to conference it only let me 3 calls at the same time.

Is there a way to make this happen, I would like to have at least 6 callers.

Thank you.

Answers are for 3300.
Please provide system type and SW version on all posts as assumtions waste time and effort.

There is a right way and a wrong way to create conferences.
- If you are trying to use Add Held to create conferences you will never be able to Add a fourth caller. Add Held cannot add a caller to an existing 3 party conference. To create conferences greater than 3 parties you must use the conference key.

There are system options to limit conferences
The maximum allowed by a system option is 8 Parties. These options are configuable and I believe default is 5.

We have a Mitel 3300 ICP box, vesion: 9.0.3.15

The Ip phone that i try to user for this purposse is a Mitel 5220 phone.

Thank you guys.

So are you doing it correctly?

What are your values programmed in the system form?

hmm. you got me there system form?

All that i have done is programed 6 keys on the phone with the same extension in this case 156.

I use the conference key but i was not able to connect more than 3 callers at a time.

Why are you trying to conference 1 extension 6 times? A conference is up to 8 extensions(or trunks) connected together....

You only use one key.

You cannot ADD HELD to create more than 3 parties to a conference.

Initiate 1st call (2 parties)
Press Transfer/Conference key
system returns dial tone
Dial next number
Press Transfer/Conference key
System Creates 3 party conference

Press Transfer/Conference key
system returns dial tone
Dial next number
Press Transfer/Conference key
System Creates 4 party conference

Repeat as necessary to limit set in System Options Form.

Make sence now.

So what about if someone is calling me in that extension how do you make all the calls conference?

Thank you, guys i do really appreciate your help with this.

You can use DDS/BLF instead of dialling the extension if you have them programmed. I think you would used Add Held in that case if I understand your query.

So the idea we have is that people with in the office call this extension and with the push of a button they now are in comference.

I do get that from extension 156 can call and make all the calls in a conference, but the we would like to do is the opossite, people calling into 165 and make it to the conference. is this even possible?

From the Help Files said:
You cannot use Add Held to add a call to a conference that is on Hold.

But it Also Says:
Add Held lets you move a call on Hold to another line appearance, form a conference with a call on Hold, or add a call on Hold to an existing conference.

I interpret this to mean that if the active call is the conference and the call you want to add is on hold, you can Add Held.

If the Conference is on Hold, you cannot Add Held.
