I'm looking for functionality on the 5000 similar to the assigned orbit keys on the SX-200 or Group Park keys on the 3300

These keys can be programmed as common keys on multiple phones that allow single press to "Park" and single press to "retrieve".

No codes required.

The best that someone else in my office has come up with is secondary, non-ringing, line keys associated with phantom extensions.

These work great except for one issue. They do not ever recall.

What else?

I would have thought the it should recall as you are just transferring to the phantom.
Do you have an extension in your 'transfer recall destination' of all of your extensions in the associated extensions?
Do the calls end up anywhere else?

If you just push the button, it does not really act like a transfer.

Yes, I've programmed a recall

Do the calls end up anywhere else?
No they do not. I've tried it withh a real world extension as well and it operates like the call is on hold. There might be a hold notification going to the phantom but that doesn't indicate anywhere in the real world.

If you press the transfer key first, then it will recall but the caller hears ringback instead of MOH

I'm looking for a single key push operation that will recall

I think that's where the M5000 will fail. I don't know of a way to do this. Although I'm still very fresh with this system.

As far as I'm aware you would need to transfer the caller to that phantom for it to recall.
You could change the 'Audio For Calls Ringing this Device' to MOH if you want the caller to hear MOH when transferred.

Build a hunt group. Add a Phantom as the member. The operator will transfer to the call to the hunt group. The intended called party will do a reverse transfer (default = 4) and then the hunt group number.

@ BrianWarner, Yes there are many ways to transfer a call and retrieve with codes.

The secondary line key of a phantom provides almost everything I need except recall.
- Single button press activation
- Lamps lit on assigned phones while active
- Single button press retrieve.

No codes, no complications, but no recall (sigh)

kwb,

Do you hang up the phone after pressing the button (i.e. transfer the call to the phantom)?
It should recall even if it is to the attendant position. Do you have an attendant set?

I will do some testing when I'm back at work next week. I'm sure I have set this up and it recalls.

Yes Sarond, I've tried on 2 different systems.

Not saying that is definitive though as I did not program either one.

If you think it should work the way I'm trying to use it, that is good feedback too.

Ok did a little testing on my lab system.

Originally I tried on an existing phantom and I had the same problem, it would not recall and I'm not sure why. I tried changing multiple flags but none seemed to do anything different.

I then created a new phantom and this worked in the following way:

Caller calls in, press Secondary ext key. (Rings phantom)
Hangup phone (transfers the call to the phantom) for the duration of the hold timer.
Recalls phantom for the duration of the recall timer. (Caller is still on hold and no indication except the button LED changes it's pattern)
After the recall timer expires the caller is recalled to the attendant set in the associated extensions of the phantom.

This is on a Rel 6.0 system, it had been upgraded from 5.1.
Not ideal, if you find a better way please share. You would think this was a common request on a SMB system like the 5000.

I wouls still build the hunt group and then program a PKM/DSS key of the hunt group on the phones that need to see the status. In the hunt group hunt group you can program your recall destination. Thats how we do it more times than not.
