New to Mitel 5000 and having trouble configuring the system to dial 9 for outgoing call. Was given a dial 9 template in my training course however the dial 9 feature code isnt set as 9 and when I try to set it to 9 I receive an error about conflict with 9999 for emergency dial.

How do I get around this?

you have to go to system\devices\feature codes first change the outgoing extension from 8 to some other digit like 8999 temporarily, then change all of the 9xxx feature codes to 8xxx, then change all of the trunk extensions to 8xxxx, then you can change the outgoing extension to 9.

Thanks. Surely you wouldn't want to change the 9999 emergency shortcode to something else though?! Or do you just rely on the 9 for outgoing call for this and change the emergency feature code to say 112?!

I wouldn't do this! It will cause more issues than you want to deal with. Leave outgoing access at 8!

Why do you say that?? Surely noone wants to have to dial 8 to get a line out. Isnt that American? (I'm in UK)

The dial9 template I received from my trainer seems to work without problems as all the baseline extension numbers have been changed.

actually this is the only system that I have worked with that uses 8 for outgoing access. I have seen other vendors attempt to change it to nine causing problems. The biggest problem is that 911 is a feature access code.

On mine I have just set the emergency access code to 112 and the baseline extension numbers to 8xxx. The outgoing call code is 9 and working at the moment so not sure where I will run into problems at present
