I have been asked to look into our system and see if it is possible to have multiple custom selectable messages that someone can set as what is answered with when someone in the office is not available. For example, if we have a staff meeting we do not want to be interrupted, we can set the system to answer with a meeting message. If everyone leaves for lunch, the message selected can be a lunch one. These events would be irregular in date and duration so a scheduler would not work.

We would just like to be able to give callers more information rather than just to say we are not available right now.

We have a Mitel 5000 system with 5330 IP phones. I have been pouring through the help file and will continue that, but was wondering if anyone can give any guidance as to whether this is possible.

Thanks in advance.

no. its all based on either time and date or day and night mode.

if it were the same time and dates you could use a STAR but theres no way to have it say different things at diffrent times that are random.

you could set up the night destination to be something that the customer can record or train someone how to change greeting numbers in DB programming.

You can change the greeting on a CRA to another greeting via the system admin mailbox either onsite or remote,,, should be right there in the manual

Hope this helps

The quickest way probably would be a night mode that routes to a particular mailbox, you would then change the greeting for the mailbox to suit the situation.

We're all out to lunch leave a message
We're all in a meeting leave a message
and so on.

You are going to have to change it each time though.

So re-record the mailbox greeting and hit night mode = all calls will be directed to the elected mailbox.

It's not quite as simple as that to initially set up but thats what you would have to do each time.

Another thing to consider , but this would depend on how your calls are routed currently.

If they are currently routed to ring a phone (operators station) , you could easily forward that phone (355) to Preconfigured CRA's with your custom greetings.
And unforward it accordingly

CRA 2510 = Out to lunch
CRA 2511 = Were all in a meeting
CRA 2512 = And so on

I usually accomplish this via Phantom Forwarding; Inbound calls ring to Phantom x2599; x2599 fwds to STAR 2520 or a CRA for normal operation, which can be done via remote stn programming (359,2599, pass,355,2520) or programmed STN SD bins then assigned to keys. Manual forwarding to (Makkons's examples) CRA2510, CRA2511, etc... can be done as needed (359,2599, pass,355,2510), then forwarded back to normal STAR/CRA when finished. Each CRA has it's own custom greeting as in Makkons's example. The forwarding can also be changed remotely if you have a DID set for DISA.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I will give them a try and see what works the best.

Thanks again.
