Hi, one of our customers has two offices with 3300 CX controllers, there exists IP Trunking between the two.

They will open two small offices (no more that 10 users each) and require small PBXs that they can link to their existing 3300s, and also connect local analogue trunks.

Does the Mitel 5000 support Minet IP Trunking to the 3300??

Has anyone linked (IP Trunk) the 5000 and the 3300 successfuly?

Regards,

Daniel

even if MINET IP trunking is not supported, then SIP trunks should be an option I believe

Fissure,

We once connected SIP trunks between a 3300 and a Mitel 1000 with too many issues, specially when transfering among extensions on the 3300, audio was lost when pressing hold or transfer key on the 3300 side.

Will it happend the same with the 3300 and the 5000??.

From my point of view SIP is not a reliable option yet, there is always an issue with something. All vendors, including Mitel, are always making changes in the way they handle SIP because everyone handles SIP the way the interpret the Protocol... When something don't work, then Mitel blames the other PBX vendor or the switches, or the routers or the firewalls... at the end the customer is the one that doesn't get what he needs.

I have never had these too many problems with a Protocol... I never have had problem with Minet, with ISDN Trunks, with T1s, E1s, even with R2.

What are the options with Minet IP Trunking? 3300 and the 200ICP can be connected together?

Regards,

Daniel

The 5000 does not support Mitel IP trunks. As suggested your only option on a data network is SIP trunks. Check the knowledge base as there is an article on connecting the 5000 to a 3300 via SIP.

The reason is that the IP trunks used by the 3300 are Mitel propriatary and the 5000 doesn't have the software to support them... to this point.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

We have several 3300 to 5000 sip connected networks; working well Lou has the right answer.
