Hello Everyone,

I have just joined the forum and I need some help with a couple of problems that I have been tasked with finding the solutions to.

1) The company I work for run 5212 IP phones on the Mitel 3300ICP. I have been asked to complete the following. We would like to make it so that if someone was to call one of our phones and no one picked up, the system would try another phone and so on and so forth. How is that possible using the 3300ICP??

2) We have a phone (5212) at a remote site, and its picking up the settings from our network. How do I ensure the phone is on the system and also, if it is not there, how do I add the phone. I have it's macaddress and phone number.

Any help is appreciated. New to Mitel Systems and they are not forth coming with the information. :)

Yan.

Ok,
There are numerous ways to accomplish this forwarding... but this is the most simple way to forward: there is a Forward No Answer feature on the phone set via the Blue Superkey, since the customer wants one phone to ring, then forward to the next phone and to the next phone; going to each set and forward no answer to the next set will work.

BUT there are a few issues to this.

->Do these phones have Voicemail, and forward to VM if not answered?
->What if no one answers the call(s)? The caller will only hear ringing as the call keeps forwarding to each set... how long do you want the customer to wait on the phone?

2. This phone at the remote site, is it running on Teleworker?
You can see if the set active on the 3300, under the maintenance commmands = IP phones- all this will give you all the information needed.
If the phone is active, why would you want to add it? Not too sure wherer you are going with this...

As Ynotphone says, there are many ways to accomplish #1. Forwarding, Routing, Hunt Groups, Ring Groups, Ringing line appearances, or combinations of the above.

Suffice it to say it is necessary for you to provide much more information to best be able to advise you on the best method. How many hops, what happens if no one answers, do calls always follow the same order, etc.

For #2, same confusion as Ynotphone. Is the set working or not. It is either on your system or it is not. If not (as you ask), where would it be getting its call control from?

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

Thanks for the input on call forwarding. I will be able to work with that.

As for the remote phone. As far as I am aware it is using Teleworker, however under IP all phones I cannot see it listed. I am not sure why this is as I have been told that it was connected previously. The remote user stated that the phone is not pulling its settings from the network here which to me suggests its not setup correctly.

Hello again,

I have been told that we have a phone at a remote location, however I have no way of knowing if it is using Teleworker or not. I tried to run the command line that was stated by Ynotphone however it did not work and threw up and error saying the syntax was incorrect.

I remember seeing the phone in the ICP before but I cant remember where I saw it. I have been given a MAC Address and an IP address plus the phone number (external) of the phone or at least what it should be. Could I not simply add the phone? If so how would I do that considering it is a remote phone?

If I cannot just add it and it is still in the system somewhere, where is the best place to look. System and Diagnostics -> IP Telephones -> All phones does not show this particular handset. However being remote I am not sure if it would show up here.

Please help :(

If the phone is working, then that's the best test that it's connected.... ;)

Have the user reset the phone and note the IP address of the PBX on the display when it boots, this will either be the TW address or the ICP address.

Thanks for the reply Irwin. I have been informed that it is definately plugged in but just doesnt seem to be pulling the settings across from the server. How would a user reset the phone? Or do you mean, unplug and plug back in scenario?

If it is set up as a teleworker set.
Rebooting the set and holding the 7 key will boot the set up in TW configuration mode, where you need to point the phone to the MAS and ICP

Ok I got the remote user to reset the phone as discussed. The following message appeared.

Waiting for LLDP
172.17.1.135
L2&Boot download Err.

To my knowledge the previous IT person had the phone working, but decided to clean up the control panel and removed it with the intention of adding it abck alter. Perhaps its just a case of adding the phone into the control panel. Any thoughts? I have the phones mac address as well.
