is there any specific logic to how the mitel telephone directory displays names/numbers when searching a name from a desk phone.

i.e. say a user has a desk phone 313 and a soft phone 6313,both with the same name against them. However, the customer doesn’t like that when searching the tel directory that 6313 is displayed before 313. Is there any way I could make 313 display first.

313 is the prime number in the multi-device group 313 and I've also set the ""prime name"" on the 313 extn but still the same, always displays the 6313 first

any help appreciated.

You could put a . in front of the last name in the tel dir (.Smith,Bob) for the name of ext 6313. Then the search for Smith will only show ext 313.

That's an excellent idea. I will try that today

Thank you very much

Braindead2, if you set Privacy to YES (User and Services Configuration) for the SIP extensions, then they won't show up in the Phone Book.

If the 6313 is a member of the MDuG(313), enabling Privacy might be preferable to modifying the last name with a period as 6313 won't be able to receive calls directly.

If 6313 is a normal extension, then by all means modify the name with a period.
