Mitel 3300 Sound Engaged Tone When The Phone Is In Use

Hi,

I look after a Mitel 3300 system where I work and I'm going through a steep learning curve on how to use it.

I have a couple of system speed calls that route an external DDI through to internal extensions. Is it possible to return an engaged tone when these extensions are busy so that the external caller does not think that the call is being ignored? At the moment the caller hears the normal dialling tone.

No voicemail? Suppose you could reroute on busy to a RAD device that has a recording of the engaged tone.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Hi,

Thanks for your responce. We have plenty of voicemail licences but its not enabled for the devices in question at the moment. I thought of configuring voicemail but its not an option at the moment because the users don't want to return calls. They just want it to sound an engaged tone to the caller when they are on the phone.

I've found the call rerouting section on the 3300 (Excuse my lack of knowlege). Is it possible to enable voicemail and get it to play the engaged tone?

You could also disable the camp-on feature in the COS of the trunks.

Is the caller going to wait for the phone to be free because if you used a greeting only mailbox follwed by a hangup you could use the greeting as the engaged tone then have the VM drop the call?

There is a COS option for the IP Phone that Forces Device busy of any line in use. Enable this and blank the Auto-Campon Timer.
