Hey everyone. This forum has been very helpful in teaching me the Mitel interface but I'm having some trouble.

I created a ring group that cascades to 3 individuals set up as extension VM Mailboxes. If we all fail to answer I want it to go to one of those individuals Mailbox. If I set the overflow point of the ring group to the individual's VM mailbox extension, it doesn't go to voicemail and instead loops the initial call greeting. So then I tried creating a nametag hunt group and added the VM mailbox extension as a member and it does the same thing.

The only way I got this to work so far is if I set the ring group overflow point to 500, which is the voicemail that goes to all the phones. However, I need it to go to a specific individual's extension so that doesn't work.

Help is much appreciated!

Are you using the embedded (built-in) VM or something else?

There's not really an easy way to do this. For one thing, how is the 3300 going to know which mailbox to send the call to? If it's ringing all members of the RG simultaneously (assuming you have it set up that way), it's just going to follow the RG's timer then go from there.

Yes I believe it is the embedded voicemail and I see your point but I thought that was the purpose of the overflow point. It will successfully transfer to another VM Mailbox Extension but instead of picking up the voicemail like it would if I dialed that extension directly, it just loops the greeting.

Also, it's not a simultaneous ring, as it's set to "Cascade". It hops between 3 different phones with a 5 second delay.

I'm very new to Mitel so bare with me.

You dont make the mailbox a member of the nametag group.

The nametag group is specially numbered to prepend a * or #

If you want to route to mb 1234 you create NT grp *1234 and route the nametag to VM.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

I'm a bit confused. You say to route it to the VM. Wouldn't the VM be the extension number of the VM mailbox? The VM mailboxes have 1st alternative routes to '500', maybe that's what you're talking about?

Also, what do you mean by route? Setup call rerouting or do you mean add it as a member?

In kwb's example, you'd have to go to Call ReRouting Assignment and for the entry for *1234, set the 1st Alternative to be the re-route number that points to your voicemail hunt group pilot DN.
