Hi,

Anyone know where or what form I use to add new DID numbers to the Directory Number DB in a 3300?

I've tried to look in ALL Forms and by Selection: System Config, etc. to no avail...

For example we have numbers that range from 226-56XX and 221-58XXX and the Telco obviously routes the 221 prefix but I don't know how to setup the new 4 digit DID's ranging from 8701-8760.

Thanks for any help.

SP

Typically the Telco delivers anywhere from 4 to 10 digits.

The Trunk Service Assignmnet for your DID Trunks will have a value to absorb digits.

If you receive 10 digits and want a 4 digit plan, you set the form to absorb 6 digits. Receive 7 absorb 3, receive 4 absorb 0.

There is no DID translation on the 3300. Create an extension to match the digits you are left with and you're good to go.

If you have issues with conflicts at the 4 digit level, my usual fallback is to absorb digits to be left with 7 digits entering the system. then I use the speedcall assignment table to "translate" the 7 digits to whatever digits I require.

HI KwbMitel,

Ok, I think I understand - but, I don't know how to create an extension?
I only know how to reuse my pool of DN's and assign to a PLID.

Here is some info from Trunk assign for T1 and PRI:
(I think the PRI is local/in-state and T1 is used for LD/out-of-state/Int'l?)

Trunk Service Number: 2
Release Link Trunk: No
Class of Service: 20
Class of Restriction: 20
Baud Rate: 300
Intercept Number: 1
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Day:
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Night 1:
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Night 2:
Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb: 0
Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Insert:
Trunk Label: T1

Trunk Service Number: 6
Release Link Trunk: No
Class of Service: 16
Class of Restriction: 16
Baud Rate: 300
Intercept Number: 1
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Day:
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Night 1:
Non-dial In Trunks Answer Point - Night 2:
Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Absorb: 3
Dial In Trunks Incoming Digit Modification - Insert:
Trunk Label: PRI

Create extensions 8701 - 8760.

Or to put it another way, Add the DN's 8701 - 8760 to your pool of numbers.

KwbMitel,

I added the DN's in the "DID Ranges for CPN substitution" form
My other ranges are listed in Indexes 1 & 2.
I added a third with my new numbers.

Then, checked numbers with locate all free dn from 8701 to 8760 and got:

LOCATE: Warning! file *.LOCATE.FREE_DN will be overwritten.
A free DN within the given range cannot be found.

When I typed "Create ext 8701 - 8760" I get ambiguous cmd....

Not sure how I add them to my "pool" of numbers?
In the Maint Command window I assume but I can;t get the cmd or syntax correct!
Arrrgghh - sorry for my insolence.

Any further help?
I'm checking the Help page now...

Your question and comments do not line up. I think we are not communicating on the same subject(s).

A DN is a Directory Number and is programmed internally.

You mention CPN Substitution which is used for outbound Calling Line ID. CPN Substitution needs to be associated with a DN.

Your original request was "How do I add a Directory Number" Not "How do I make so that when I call out callers see my DID Number"

Also, the Locate error above. What system provided said error. (OPSMAN Methinks)

Sometimes it is better to ask how to accomplish a goal than to narrow the vision to a specific task. Without knowing the ultimate goal it can be difficult to put the task in context.

Start over, what are you trying to accomplish (Big Picture)

Hi KwbMitel,

Ok, I'm trying to add some new extension numbers(DID - I think) to my 3300 system.
I don't know how to accomplish this task.

The numbers are 661-8701 to 661-8760.
I saw the CPN sub form and saw the old DN/DID numbers(221-5800 to 221-5899) in there and so I added the new numbers.
This is the only change thus far.

How to I add extensions or DN or DID numbers to my system?
I am unsure of what I the right question to ask - that is correct.

Please help understand what I need to do about setting up new extensions/numbers in the 3300 system.

Thanks!

I will explain via an example.

You have existing numbers 5800 - 5899.

Lets assume for a moment that 5888 is not currently in use and we want to activate it.

You would create a new extension and assign 5888 as it's prime DN.

Same process for new DID's. No other work necessary. Create and extension 8701 and try calling it.

If you cannot, for any reasons, create new extensions, just add system speed dials wich will match new DIDs and point to desired extensions

Hi KwbMitel,

Yikes, sorry to be a bonehead.

I added the new numbers via MultiLine, Singleline or Analog assign forms....geesh.

Got it - I'll test.
