Mitel 3300 MX

Hi Guys,

Couple of issues here, I've just been out to an old Mitel MX, the Software is 6.1.5.4 (honest), any way it wont boot, its failing during boot sequence and I get an error message on the CLI basically saying it cant move the error log, or something similar, our support guys reckon its a hard disk problem which I would agree, however I don't have a backup which means I'm going to have to handball the lot back in when I get it back up and running. here's the first question, 6.1.5.4, I cant seem to download it from Mitel Online, any ideas here, and secondly and maybe more important, is it possible to recover the DB off the old disk or am I scuppered...

nothing that old on MoL anymore. Oldest I have is R7 and this is from when I was still in the womb so your customer or your company need a slap on the wrists for not upgrading since the dawn of time!!!
Seriously though, you will struggle to get hold of the software now, and if you dont have a backup either then its an ideal opportunity to upgrade the software and re-program from scratch. Out of interest let us know how much the re-enlist fee is for SWA

Steve, if you go online to Mitel for the AMC record, does the application record still exist?
May want to confirm.

6.1.8.10 is available on the Software Downloads page of MOL. I'm looking at it right now. Go to "Software Downloads" -> "3300 Integrated Communications Platform" -> "3300 ICP - Software Download For Rel 9.0 UR3 PR1 or below", and it's near the bottom of the page.

Also if the current drive won't boot, there's a good chance you won't be able to get the existing database off it. If you can post a capture of the boot sequence off the serial port, someone here (myself included) might be able to help you identify what's wrong and if anything is recoverable.

If it will boot far enough to allow FTP access to the drive, then the last backup should be accessible on the vmail partition.

Just wondering. Would you still be able to take this system to R9? The MX would support it and it would be a lot more stable then 6. Think its even still supported by Mitel.

R9 would be better, but good luck getting a license for it.

I don't think it would be much of an issue getting Software Assurance. The AMC doesn't care what the chassis is or the current SW level.

R9 would still be below the support threshold though so All SWA would grant you is the upgrade.
