I have a Mitel 3300 MCD with a user that every so often loses audio on the phone.
I checked the logs and this is what it shows:
An IP Device registered at 4952, CDP L2 MAC address Not Supported, CDP L2 Port Not Supported, CDP L2 IP Address

The MCD is on a flat voice network. Most phones have a PC attached to it. The MCD is connected to the ISP connection and is running DHCP for the phones and the PC's.

controller type and software load please.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

It's an MCD 4.2 SP2 with Software load of 10.2.2.10

Start with the basics....

What do they mean by 'lose audio'? Both directions or just one? Does the call stay connected until they hang up or do they get re-order? Is it always the same person they are talking to when it happens? Are the far end users on cell phones? Enable/check the smdr logs for times when this happens.

Both directions. Phone stays online. Not sure if it related to only one particular caller but I doubt it. It's just strange that this extension is having this issue and the logs show the error stated above. I am just curious to know what the error means.

If you have a flat LAN you are most likely not using CDP because what would be the point. Don't thnk the logs would point to a reason for the loss of audio unless they are occuring at exactly the time of the loss of audio. Are they?

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
