We had a customer switch vendors recently and now when you dial a number that is ringing to a PRI the Esna Message Server is not hearing dial tone. The system in question had a number RCF'd to a number on the PRI. This number is speed called to a number on another node that rings into the Messaging Server. This has worked for years. The new vendor says that we need to accept inband DTMF. Anyone know where this is setup? Specifics below.

Ver 9.0.3.15 (Yes I know)

Call is RCF'd to a number on the PRI. This number is speed called to a number that goes across a WAN to the 6510.
Call rings in does not accept DTMF.
Vendor Time Warner.....
Has worked for last 6-7 years.

Quick test. Re-direct the incoming number to a phone on the 3300 where the esna lives. Call the RCF number and see if you hear DTMF on the phone after answering the call. That will confirm that DTMF is reaching the esna.

The 3300 is not designed for inband DTMF

Unless the 6510 is something I do not know about, it does not require DTMF as it integrates with MiTAI.

Also, although I have heard of inband DTMF over PRI the setup is quite complicated as the signals have to be switched from the D channel to the B channel. I have only ever set it up outbound specifically to dial PIN codes for LD for faxes. I've never heard of it inbound for any purpose.

If you dial the internal termination number from an internal station what happens?

In new product the ESNA has switched to SIP trunk integration from Mitai.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Anyone else and you need to throw it harder.

Sorry LoopyLou, you are correct and I was aware of the SIP integration.

That being said, Mitel has desolved the relationship with ESNA before the SIP release so it's a reasonable assumption that the integration is not SIP without additional information.

If it is SIP then I only say, have fun, I'm out of here.
