I am managing a Mitel 3300 ICP that has an IVR option which transfers callers to an external landline number that uses an analog telephone. Is it possible to configure the Mitel 3300 to use a hunt group for a group of analog telephone numbers so that when one is busy, the other one rings?

it sounds like you are transferring to an external number and you want it to go to more than 1 destination ?
what version of software is the system running
What kind of trunks are on the mitel

if you have available licenses ( and depending upon trunks and software version) you could do something like this

call is sent to cascade ring group 5000
cascade timer = 10 seconds
members of this group are 5001,5002,5003
COS 44 is used with Answer confirmation set to Enabled
ext 5001,5002,5003 use this COS
ext 5001 is EDHU extension associated with external number 08 8123 4001
ext 5002 is EDHU extension associated with external number 08 8123 4002
ext 5003 is EDHU extension associated with external number 08 8123 4003

when call hits ring group
ext 5001 rings which rings the external device
- if the user of the external device answers and then dials any digit (answer confirmation) they get the call
- if they answer and don't dial a digit the call will go to the next ring group member

the answer confirmation is just so that the external number doesnt 'answer' with its voicemail"

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Yes, transfer is to an external number which goes to more than one destination.

The system is running Release level: 8.0
PRI trunks are being used.

By EDHU, are you referring to an External Hot Desk User? If so, how would you associate an external number like 08 8123 4001 with the hot desk user?

When 5001 is programmed
on service profile
set it as hotdesk
if using ip user license then set service level to full
on Service Details tab
Set cos to the one with Answer conf enabled ( will also need permanent login enabled ( check edhu in help for proper cos settings)
Set External Hot Desk enabled to yes
Set external Hot Desk Dialling prefix to ARS access code
Set External Hot Desk number to external number (0881234001)

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Thanks. I managed to add and configure the ring group and External Hot Desk users as members. While testing it out with two members, the first member is always rung even when the first member is busy with a call and it never rings the second member even though they are available. I am using the following timers for the Circular Cascade Ring ring group:

Call Ringing Timer: 30
Cascade Ring Timer: 5
Call Queued Timer - Seconds: 20

Is there some other setting that needs to be configured which will ring the first available member instead of ringing a member that is busy?

firstly as there is no way of monitoring the Mobile Phone the pabx cant tell whether its busy

best you can hope for is to get it to step through

might be worth trying a ring all ring group
both external will ring , first one to answer and dial the digit should take teh call

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....
